Montr\u00e9al 1976: The Olympic Games history in coin pieces<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 2026, the Bank of Canada Museum invites the public to again be immersed in the exuberance, pride and electrifying energy of one of the greatest public events in Canada’s history: the 1976 Olympics in Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition offers the opportunity to discover \u2014 or rediscover \u2014 Canada’s very first commemorative coin series, issued to help in funding the Games. At the time, the program became the biggest in Olympic history, reflecting the extent of the ambitions and challenges linked to the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fifty years later, these coin pieces are regarded as veritable works of art. They relate the stories of bold design, economic ingenuity and national pride while providing an original overview of the sustainable heritage of Montr\u00e9al 1976.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Displayed from May 14, 2026 to March 22, 2027, the exhibition offers a new way to explore the Olympic Games – at the crossroad of sports, the economy and our collective memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the activities, like the general admission fee at the Museum, are FREE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
