The conference, which will be held on May 28-29, 2026 at the Centre des mémoires montréalaises (MEM), will offer an interdisciplinary and intersectoral conversation surrounding the heritage of Olympic Stadium and the 1976 Olympic Games in Montréal.
The event will bring together 100 people from the academic, sports and media fields, and the general public. Presentations and discussions will be centered around six themes:
- Theme 1: Heritage, places of collective memory and identities
- Theme 2 : Gathering spots and show places
- Theme 3: Urban and architectural landmarks
- Theme 4: Media exposure of the city and the 1976 Olympics in Montréal
- Theme 5: Sociopolitical and educational dimensions of the 1976 Olympics in Montréal
- Theme 6: The sports legacies of the 1976 Olympics in Montréal
Over the two days, various presentations will be offered by academics and specialists from diverse perspectives.
There will also be a roundtable discussion every day in a more informal format so that personal perspectives can be brought to the discussion. These discussions promote interaction between the key figures linked to Olympic Stadium and the 1976 Games.
